E-cigs may not provide us with nutritious supplements for a healthy life but they certainly prevent us from ruining it and making the loss caused by traditional cigarettes manageable. In our attempt to separate myths about e-cigs from the facts, we have a few things you should know that are supported by various studies conducted over the years.
1.) Secondhand Vapor has Nicotine, but it Lacks Combustible Toxins
An Oxford Journal that was published in December 2013 involved an examination of the toxins that were thought to be present in second-hand vapor. As per studies, that didn't turn out to be the case as scientists established there are no combustion-related toxins present in vapor, which also contains small quantities of nicotine. However, there is still some work that needs to be done to determine whether there is any risk associated with second-hand nicotine exposure.
2.) E-cigs do Not Stiffen the Arteries
In an interesting study by Greek researchers from the Onassis Cardiac Surgery Center, who compared the impact of e-cigs versus traditional cigarettes on heart function e-cigarette juice, it was revealed that it takes merely two tobacco cigarettes to stiffen the aorta whereas, e-cigarettes made no difference to the aorta, and were not found to stiffen the arteries.
3.) E-liquid has No Adverse Effects on Heart Health
To study the impact of e-liquids on heart cells, scientists from the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health conducted an experiment to test 20 different e-liquids. After performing the test, it was concluded that vapor did not have any negative effect on cardiac cells.
4.) E-liquids Pose No Public Health Concerns
In an examination by Prof vapejuice. Igor Burstyn of the Drexel University School of Public Health to determine if the chemicals present in e-liquids could be dangerous, he found that all those prevalent health concerns regarding e-liquids were untrue and refuted them as myths about vaping.
5.) Secondhand Exposure to Vapor Poses No Health Risks
A group of French scientists performed their research about effects of second hand vapor. It was found that, on average, vapor from e-cigarettes dissipated within 11 seconds, whereas, smoke from traditional cigarette lingered for about 20 minutes on average. The study clarified and established that second-hand exposure to e-cig vapor does not pose risk to public health.
Smoking is a notoriously tough habit to beat and many people who even want to leave it for good fail to do so. To that effect, the vapor provided by e-cigarettes contains nicotine but not tobacco smoke and therefore, reduces cravings and withdrawal symptoms in smokers, which ultimately helps them quit smoking.
